Coming in with a new project, Drip Gang’s Deem finds Mulatto Beats for a three track combo titled Better. The new project was recorded at $ Can.t Studios and engineered by _V. His latest project since LoKeyHii in 2016. With this new project we find Deem looking back on his experiences with a new sense of wisdom. On “Petti” Deem confident and unapologetic, “Don’t ever tell me you let me, if you think that you can beat me you gon’ have to bet me.” Mulatto’s quick frame works of sub bass, and bright melodies pair well with Deem’s relentlessness. As the music unfurls the tracks are concise, but flow lively next to one another.

Deem has some future appearances leading up to his Money Can’t Buy U Showcase at Cole’s Bar on October 14th. Before then we’ll see him at the RutCorp Nite Market with the $ Can.t Merch Booth on August 19th, Doing Too Much at Iridium in Wicker on the 26th, and SubT September 1st with The WHOevers and Solo Sam. If you’re looking to catch some free rhymes tonight, check him out SubT, there’s gonna be $3 Tiger Cans all night.

What inspired the title for the project?

I am, Better. I feel like I’ve found my pocket. Flows. Content. Entertainment value. Relatability. Just better.

What real life events inspired the concept for the song “Ramen”?

It’s the good parts of a few stories rolled into one. Mainly just my current mood about dating. Trying to keep it outside “the scene”, the games I’ve played, the ones that have been played on me. I stay hungry and who doesn’t want a home cooked meal? Especially one you ain’t gotta make...skrrr omw now!

How does your approach with this EP compare to your last project?

The last project, LoKeyHii, was a full album. Capturing my life, my journey over the last few years. It took a lot of time and self reflection. Better is me just thinking BARS!. Hard ass bars. Real ass bars. The song titles found me. I put on the beats and just wrote until I ran outta room or bars.

Is there a particular reason you decided to keep this EP to 3 tracks? If so do you plan on releasing more like it in the future?

I wanted it to be short and to the point. My three strangest personality traits. FiFA = always hustling. Ramen = always flirting. Petti = I got me if no else does. Also I have two other EPs in the works. The next “Lil 3rd Eye” is  7-8 2min songs, aiming for christmas time if not christmas day. The EPs give me a space to experiment and keep busy while i’m building the album. Not sure if there will be two or three more before the "album album" next year. The climate of things is always changing. I’m ready for whatever.
