Elton Aura • "IRRAGATION"
Shortly before a commanding live appearance at Ric Wilson’s sold out Schubas event this past Saturday Chicago MC Elton Aura dropped hot new material titled “IRRIGATION” produced by Jasper. Judging from the last two tracks a few months back, versatility appears to be Elton's strong suit. Releasing only seven songs since his debut about a year ago Elton’s served up a plethora of genre blended pieces showcasing his lyrical prowess. What’s amazing to me is his instinctual approach to diversifying what we know of him. The Phoelix produced medley “StringCheese,” the first of his SoundCloud tracklist, bares no resemblance to the vibe of his latest, but his vocal presence in each song make everything cohesive like an eight track EP released gradually through singles.
Getting a chance to hear him live made these many different vibes palpable to say the least. A couple songs into his performance I already loved what I heard, as he took us through twists and turns, songs switching up as they pleased at the end of the set I had no clue what to expect, but I knew I wanted to hear more. It appears my wish came true before I even knew it because we do have more Elton Aura and it’s flooding my speakers right now.
