Ric Wilson • "Finna"
It may prove difficult finding clarity in issues that exist in our environment, nothing’s ever really black and white. A wise man once said, "it’s not always about being right, it’s about being correct." Society is much like math when you think about it, we grew up learning how to solve problems with formulas. On the other hand, social conflicts aren’t so cut and dry, human beings are relational creatures, we stick to what we know, not only is it easier when dealing with a situation, it’s a survival tactic.
Ric Wilson’s new song "Finna" is a colloquial mashup of conversations currently being had around the world. Here, Wilson speaks to his people the best way he knows how, directly, shedding those constrictions of a politically correct approach gives him leverage to explain his views without the implication of judgment.
Coming together with producer Pyrekt, Ric Wilson’s lyrics and delivery submit uplifting yet gritty tones to the warm juxtaposition of a soul bouncing beat. The southside vocalist looks to light up April with a new body of work. A title for the project hasn’t surfaced yet, but he does plan on headlining his first show around the same time. We look forward to seeing both.
