San Soma • "Yearlong Pine"
San Soma is a Chicago name that you might not recognize, but something tells me that will all change during the remainder of 2016. As one half of Chicago duo Tin Gardens (it'd be foolish to not check out their music), the singer/multi-instrumentalist began working alongside blog/collective Oak Cellar Door as well as TDS Collective, which includes Kweku Collins (pre-Closed Sessions days) and Swill the Will. While the collective is less concrete these days, all involved members have continued to impress with their own individual work.
Now, stepping out a bit into the solo spotlight, San Soma lets loose with the single "Yearlong Pine", a track that was released through Brooklyn label MishkaNYC. This acts as a fine follow-up to last month's track "Ono", and further adds to the hype of Soma's upcoming solo LP, which we hope to hear later this year.
