Vic Mensa • "Danger"
The weekend started early for Chicago hip hop heads and it had absolutely nothing to do with Abraham Lincoln's birthday. Thursday afternoon to many 9-5er's dismay, Kanye held a party/fashion show at New York City's Madison Square Garden and streamed the event live via Tidal to homes and theaters across the nation. The event showcased Kanye's Yeezy Season 3 collection and also debuted his new album TLOP (The Life of Pablo). Among the star studded crowd were a number of familiar Chicago faces including Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa.
Although Vic Mensa performed "Wolves" with Kanye and Sia at SNL last year, the Roc Nation representative was not featured on the final version of the song. "Wolves" came and went with an extra verse from Ye and no Vic. Chicago got sad for a moment. Then Kanye passed the AUX cord, and it was lit once more. Vic premiered "Danger" produced by Papi Beatz in front of a sold out crowd at the Garden, Vic's first solo record in nearly six months. It's nice that Kanye is sharing his light with the next generation, but lets hope big boss Hov let's us get a Vic Mensa debut already.
That's not the only thing Vic premiered recently. OWSLA Radio got Vic freestyling over the recently released Louis The Child single "From Here". Who would have thought it would be Skrillex behind putting these two Chicago favorites together?!
