Ibn Inglor • Honegloria
Sorry for the delay, but Ibn Inglor's new project Honegloria is a lot to digest, a musical feast that any rising artist should be extremely proud of. We've always known Ibn Inglor to be an ambitious musician - listening to his work would make it impossible to avoid that conclusion. But he's done something pretty great with Honegloria, creating an album that barely really falls into hip-hop, working cross-genre to stitch sound and vocals into a dark, wonderful quilt of sound. Honegloria has a lot of angles and will require more listens, but the first thing you notice is that this is a deeply personal album. Ibn Inglor is diving into what makes him and the world tick, and you'll leave with a better understanding of the artist. The second thing you'll notice is the album's design and production. Honegloria's layout blurs the line between tracks, and there's nothing conventional whatsoever about the beats (they really don't resemble hip-hop at all, but it really, really works). And as out-there as the production is here (provided by Arran Sym), it's perfectly executed, cacophonous, cinematic and very different. Which is why we're going to have to keep our eyes on Ibn Inglor; based on Honegloria, there's no doubt he's going to keep doing things his own way.
