SKYLR • "Beautiful"

I've listened to the newest song by SKYLR about 30 times in the last two days. It would be too easy to classify her new single "Beautiful" as beautiful, but that's exactly what I'm going to do. The song is a beautifully constructed composition, one that skyrockets and soars, not with drums and heavy instrumentation, but with words. The drums never arrive and that's the point. Judging by her first Soundcloud upload, "Devil", SKYLR's music is generally more upbeat and high energy, but "Beautiful" (her first solo piece in ten months) works as a classical interlude, a piano-driven number that forces the audience to listen to the vivid, enchanting lyricism. 

"I don't know you, but I feel you near. I don't need you, but I want you here."

I'm not sure where this song will fall, if it's part of a larger project of stripped down and bare songs, or if this will act as an intro/outro/interlude to some of her more plugged-in production. Regardless of the direction SKYLR goes with her next output, it's obvious that she's a lovestoned dreamer hoping to be whisked away, to be pulled off the grid, hand-in-hand with the one she loves.
