Mojek x Ric Wilson • "The World"
Mojek and Ric Wilson together? Yes, please. The electronic producer and the buzzing vocalist recently linked up for the single "The World". Full of auto-tuned croons and vibrant grooves, the track begs for a disco ball and a subtle fist pump. Throw in some cigarette smoke and some Henny and you're one step away from this newly announced pairing, who claim to have the world in their pocket. This collaborative piece was curated by Chicago creatives 119 Productions and is the first piece in a proper EP which plans on being released next month. 119 reached out to us and explained the new single below:
"[This is] the first in our artist series and we couldn’t be happier to have the premiere installment be with a man who has innovated grooves in Chicago for some time now and has had a killer 2015. MOJEK, whose insane production can flip any cut and whip up original knocks has murked dance floors and .wav files alike with a sound that has carried worldwide. So it’s only right 119 and Mojek have teamed up to bring you an EP called World of Mojek."
Mojek's 2015 was top-notch, with plenty of loose singles, remixes and an EP dropping throughout the calendar year. Meanwhile Ric Wilson was added to our Home Team column and his project The Sun Was Out continues to get plays around these parts. The two work very well together and kickstart a now anticipated EP. While you listen to the song above, read Mojek's words on the new single below and look out for World of Mojek EP dropping in January.
"I made 'The World' with Ric in homage to Chicago's history of Black House music and also a certain French duo who was heavily inspired by it. I took some inspiration from disco and funk like the OGs but also wanted to create a darker more tense mood that reflects the sonics of both old and new."
