After Broadway, Hip-Hop Musical 'Hamilton' will hit Chicago

Critically acclaimed hip-hop musical breakout 'Hamilton' will bring it's fan favorite program about Alexander Hamilton and his fellow founding fathers to Chicago. The "open ended" run will begin on September 27th, 2016 with at least a 16-week set of dates at the PrivateBank Theatre and will the be first outside New York City. Producer Jeffrey Seller and Broadway in Chicago made the announcement this morning outside the theatre at 18. W. Monroe St. Seller added his intention is to "install" a theater company in Chicago for a longstanding run.
Hamilton has taken the performance world by storm with book, music and lyrics written by Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, who currently stars in the Broadway version as Alexander Hamilton himself. Critics have already lauded 'Hamilton' as the favorite for the 2016 Tony Awards next June.
The Broadway play's soundtrack has been applauded as the "best Broadway musical in years" by the likes of Billboard, whom also gave it their first 5-Star review ever. The chart-topper also was just this week nominated (and favorited) for "Best Music Theater Album" for the 2016 Grammy Awards. The album is produced by Miranda, Alex Lacamoire and Bill Sherman with The Root's Questlove and Black Thought. It is only the "Sixth Cast Album" to reach the Top 20 charts in the last 50 years.
