Yung Creatives • DRAMA, Jacob "Yak" Linden & CHAI

Once a month, Westley Parker and myself take some time out of our busy schedules to sit down with some of the city's more interesting characters and dig a little deeper into what makes them tick on our Yung Creatives talk show. As we creep into the year anniversary of the show, we return once again for the month of June with yet another twist on a longtime favorite as local dance duo DRAMA stop by to join the show and stick around for a peek at their new album and we also have exciting young video director Yakub Films and singer CHAI on this edition for one of our best yet. Catch the show Monday, June 27 by RSVP-ing with myself or Wes and get in tune with this month's guests below!

DRAMA

Friends Via Rosa and Na'el Shehade have only been making music since late 2015, but that also happens to be when they first met. Both have history making some great music apart, but when Via and Na'el join forces everything you thought you knew about their music individually goes out the window. Following the release of three strong dance and R&B influenced singles since September, DRAMA is preparing to release their debut project and they'll be giving attendees of this month's Yung Creatives an opportunity for an exclusive listen following our conversation. Come get to know what makes this team work so well and stay for the free music.

Jacob "Yak" Linden

Not many have made a name for themselves as quickly as Jacob Linden. Breaking out onto the scene following his work on Hurt Everybody's "2K47" video, Yak used that collaboration as a platform to then embark on a passionate pursuit of a career documenting the transformation the Chicago music community is experiencing. Whether he's working with artists like Chance The Rapper, Saba, and others, or he's out in the field shooting events, this renaissance people have been talking about is being captured by Yak. As he continues to develop his talents as a director, Yak will be joining us to talk about traversing a crowded profession and setting himself apart from that crowd.

CHAI

This city has become a meeting ground for talented acts from across the country to meet, develop and find their respective voices under the banner of Chicago and the latest to enter the fold has been 23-year-old wunderkind Crystal Yi, better known to the world as CHAI, who we caught up with for one of our early Home Team features. Having made her name through her work on K-Pop Star Season 5 where she won, earning herself a record deal in the process. We know her best from her recent work with Elias Abid that was some our favorite from last year and luckily we get to see her around the city for awhile longer as she finishes up school at the University of Illinois-Chicago and prepares for what should be a very exciting next chapter.
