Dialect Tre is the Reason

As the voices of the city amplify, one voice is coming with precision, cleverness, and pure bars. That voice belongs to one of the hardest up-and-coming rappers straight from Chicago’s Westside: Dialect Tre.
Dialect Tre isn’t just rapping, she is rewriting the rules of what it means to be a woman in Chicago’s underground scene. From powerful and impactful performances to verses that are raw, fearless, and unapologetically Chicago. It all speaks for itself. THIS IS NOT ENT.
Hey Dialect, thank you for connecting with us. To start off, where are you from?
I am from the west side of Chicago!
How does living and growing up in that area affect you creatively?
Living and growing up in that area affected how I see the world in the most beautiful way possible. Chicago is a hard city but being out west exposed me to so much culture and people and that gave me a lot of stories to tell within my music. An experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything, those negatives and positives, those things that lightened and hardened my view. Like the rose that grew from concrete is the best way to describe it. It’s beauty within the cracks.
What sparked the vision to begin making music?
I’ve just always loved and made music in my head. It was infectious how fast I could just think of a bar or a way to express my art. As a kid I would just walk to school and downloads would just come to me. A hum, a beat or a verse, even a poem I would have to jot down in that moment. I believe the gift and purpose sparked the vision. God knew I needed to tell a story and I got gifted with such a way of communication- through the rap. It was just always appealing to me
Is there anyone or anything you draw inspiration from?
Absolutely, I am heavily inspired by the women pioneers of hip hop stemming from the time period of the 80s to early 2000s. Lil Kim, Foxy, Roxanne Chante, Missy Elliot, As well as the gritty males in hip hop Westside Gunn, Vic Spencer, CrimeApple, Earl Sweatshirt Etc. I’m a big fan of underground gritty hip hop & introspective rap and I feel like I just truly embody that essence of raw hip hop.
Can you tell us a little bit about “SOS” and what that means to you?
SOS IS A FAMILY. A COLLECTIVE & A BRAND. SOS MILITIA is a collective formed by Jrny Gz, another talented artist who also happens to be my sibling. He made sos back in the year of 2019. Which included other rappers who we considered family. We started throwing in house shows/ parties. And started popping up at every open mic in the city just trying to get ourselves out there. Now in 2025 we are doing the same exact thing but now on a larger scale with supporters. We are now branching out towards “THIS IS NOT ENT” a label where likeminded folks have met. Another family.
You recently dropped a project called “Rabbit Season”, an incredible listen front to back. Can you describe the process of creating the project?
My process creating this had to be the most challenging yet most intentional thing I’ve ever done. First, I rolled my weed! Then I sat and thought about what I wanted to convey to the world and what this project would mean or do for me in the sense of why I’m creating it. After figuring out the concept which was a clever play of
“ Being a hunter” who is hunting a “rabbit” which is just a metaphor for self, life, weak rappers, I just wanted to show the duality and spectrum of how far my work could go. Even designing the plots, the twist and narration done by Jenny Gz. This whole project was a growing up project & took many helping hands including docdamindbenda who engineered the project front to back. Yours Avery who mastered and designed creative concepts behind skits as well as production & Shana Burns who designed the whole entire roll out campaign. They were a huge help to bringing this project to life as well as every single feature on this tape including: Vic Spencer, Knucklez, Rufus Sims, Ingabire, Jrny Gz & Tre Johnson. Every producer who gave this life as well: Zicabitz, Yoursavery, Jelil da kid, Dialect Tre ( myself ), Abnormal & HOLLOWHENRY
What is the importance of that title, “Rabbit Season”, to you?
RABBIT SEASON was more so a statement like my declaration of “ I’m here now” “it’s hunting season”
Also the dark undertones. Usually hunting means possible death, the hunt, the chase everything has a triple or quadruple meaning behind it. Rabbit season means patience along with waiting to be great. Rabbit season just means greatness is on the horizon.
Coming into a heavily male-dominated scene, what’s some of the challenges you have faced on your journey?
People not respecting my artistry or trying to give me the short end of the stick because I am female. It does get kinda messy on those ends but I come into the space as I am own it and shut it the fuck down with them raps.! I also feel like I always have to work extra hard to be taken seriously which can sometimes feel like the music is missing my feminine nature. But at the end of the day I remain to just be myself and make sure to vouch for myself in these spaces. I’m learning to be transparent and be an Alli for all us MCs in these spaces.
What is your goal when making music?
My goal when making music is to release, meaning any tension, any stress, any happy or bad thought, just really creating what’s true to me and my experience. I also want the listeners to feel like they're included and soak in my truth through these tracks. I say a lot without saying a lot or with saying alot lol ! When making music my goal is to get lost in it. No ego no competition but organic pure soul on tracks.
What’s next for you? Anything coming soon?
Dialect Tre: Next for me is the unknown. I don’t like to guess the future but I pray it’s fruitful, rich in the mind & filled with beautiful music.! I am currently trying to work on new ideas. Things are brewing.
Who is “Dialect Tre” to you?
Dialect Tre is me, Dialect Tre is my heart, soul and spirit. Not just an alias but a home in self. A home in truth and a home in bad ass bars! Dialect Tre means to be astounding and use this being to give all that I can. Dialect Tre is a weapon of mass destruction and creation. SHE IS THE REASON.
THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH !!!! AMAZING QUESTIONS A PLEASURE TO BE APART - Tre <3
