Chief Keef (Ft. Rae Sremmurd) • "Come Down"
What's currently being described as a Chief Keef revival has been great to listen to. Now, I'm of the opinion he never left, metaphorically speaking, but instead was just continuously getting weird with it in the lab. Not exactly marketing his shit, inconsistent with the trending styles at the time, but the quality tracks were there. Well, now he's putting himself out there a little more, which is how you end up with "Come Down", a killer track featuring Sosa, Mississippi power-hitters Rae Sremmurd, and production god-send Mike Will Made-It.
This is a collaboration made in heaven. Rae Sremmurd are at the top of their lane right now, with an ear for hip-hop even Sir Paul McCartney can get behind. At the same time, "Come Down" features some fantastic melodic Chief Keef, ripping the hook and verse with with a killer flow that any Sosa fan will recognize as both a newer Keef style yet still true to himself. Finally, the work of Mike Will Made-It, who pieces together a production backdrop that's simultaneously lighthearted and a night time ride, dark and light and in-between. The track is featured on Mike Will's new Ransom 2 project, which comes out Friday, March 24.
