Monte Booker • "Raindrop, Droptop"
It's fascinating to see the ongoing selections Monte Booker makes when it comes to properly flipping a sample. In the past, we've seen his variations on Justin Timblerlake, Busta Rhymes, and Kanye (extra Kanye) - each received with warmth and appreciation for their generally upbeat demeanor. However, none have grown a faster following than this track in particular. Posted just yesterday, "Raindrop, Droptop" has acculumated over 10,000 likes on SoundCloud at the time of this writing. It's probably a fair bet to say that the rework somewhat capitalizes on the tidal wave of crockpot and Chanel chinese container success that is "Bad and Boujee". Viral growth is a funny thing, especially in music. Still, it's nice to see Monte distinctively click and bounce his way into the element that draws both fans and aspiring producers alike ever closer to the future of bounce. You don't have to pronounce it "My-gos" to be aware that something incredible is brewing in 2017.
