Morimoto • "Lake Wyola"
Singer/producer/saxophonist/keyboardist Morimoto appears to be a jack of all trades. After wowing audience members and critics alike with his debut album, For Me & Ladie, he continued releasing split singles, loose tracks, and collaborations (notably with Qari), oftentimes with minimal promotion or pre-game hype. Instead, Morimoto creates the mystery and intrigue of waking up in the morning to a new song from a strong artist. Such is the case for "Lake Wyola", the newest song from the singer/songwriting, which arrived on my SoundCloud timeline this morning. Handling all duties with the track, named after a body of water in Shutesbury, Massachusetts, the new track is a breath of fresh air in a sea of saturated seaweed singles. Morimoto doesn't give a shit about crisp artwork or a noteworthy premiere, instead allowing the music to speak for itself. And here we have a groover, one worth blasting more than once. Synth game strong, organ game strong. Hell, even your mom would dance to this number. I promise.
If you need more from Morimoto, it's worth watching his video for "That's An Interlude", where he drinks milk out of saxophone.
