Louieboii Slim • "Labor Day"
Directed by Reginald // Words by Peter Bonamici
Carbondale, Illinois might not be the most recognized city in Illinois but it’s home to Southern Illinois University. From first hand experience it lacks a mainstream outlet but delivers an extremely tight knit underground rap community which thrives through house shows and college parties. The small town vibes don't stunt the growth of these artists though, but rather excels them to push harder than their urban counterparts. Rising from the pillars of vape smoke and Naty Ice cans come heavy hitters such as Courtlin Jabrae, Stormy English, and Louieboii Slim who continue to put the city on their back.
Louieboii Slim is a rising phoenix in the rap game and is finally starting to get his well deserved praise. Slim drops a brand new visual for "Labor Day" which captures the struggle of living in a small place but having larger than life ambitions. Effortlessly flowing through the entirety of the track, Louieboii Slim truly has mastered his craft and continues to impress us with his strong storytelling. Produced by Hovenchy and shot by Reginald, you don’t want to sleep on this one. This is just a taste of Louieboii’s new album Retro Life 2 which is sure to be released in the near future.
