Chicago's own Saba has taken some marked forward steps over the course of the last couple of years. From a relative unknown to performing alongside Chance The Rapper on the Late Show stage, the journey has been palpable for the young man. It all couldn't have happened though without some lessons from his native west side where Saba operated as a sort of street journalist, taking note of the occurrences around him. Those experiences and actualizations manifested themselves on his current magnum opus, ComfortZone and earlier this week he looked back at his roots, linking up with fellow west sider Fatboi Fre$h for a new single, "Home Training". 

This one finds Saba and Fre$h linking up over the heavy-handed M-Nat backing production that is definitely a bit of a departure from the sounds we're used to hearing Saba work his distinct brand of wordplay over. It's a different feel, for sure, but this one also arrives as rumors around the city have been saying that Sabs has been playing with some different intonations as he approaches his sophomore effort. Perhaps this is a peek into a direction we could find in the near future. For now, enjoy the stream above.
