While there's been plenty of talk about the new wave of Chicago acts that have proliferated across the internet and the hip-hop scene at large as of late, none of that would have been possible without the steady foundation of those who came before. One of the most consistent names to emerge from that inital breakout was GLC, who returned this week with another fresh new single that hit the net today.

GLC has been one of the rare artists above their thirtieth birthday that continues to stay increasingly relevant in the era of blogs and streaming. Late last week he dropped off a new one alongside young up and comer Ric Wilson that proved a penchant for working with the embodiment of his own influence. Here, we find The Ism at it's finest over some strategically down-tempo production from L Williams.

The single reached the masses via local imprint Closed Sessions which has been making some very exciting moves as of late including the recent signing of Cleveland's Kipp Stone and oue February cover story Jamila Woods in recent months. Perhaps we'll see more from these two in the near future, anyone who's been by Soundscape can attest to GLC's regular presence. For now, check out "Coolout" tomorrow.
