Nao Headlines Metro, Joined by Chicago's Own Jean Deaux on August, 23rd 2019
Another tastefully curated bill (courtesy of 1833, React Presents and CAA) will bring in two renowned artists to perform at Metro this Friday, August 23rd. In lieu of 2019’s cancelled Mamby on The Beach (what would have been her first appearance at a Chicago music festival), London artist Nao headlines the Northside venue and recruits one of Chicago’s own as a special guest: Jean Deaux.
Earlier this summer, Deaux gifted listeners with her Empathy EP. Throughout the entirety of the 7 track project Deaux offers an honest body of work, pulling in contributors from Kehlani on “All Star”, to Duckwrth and Terrance Martin on “Life Lines”. Back in 2018, Deaux released her debut album KRASH which appeared on These Days Year-End coverage listed at Number 9 in the 10 Best Albums of 2018. Deaux was also featured as a These Days cover artist in February 2018 in the feature “Jean Deaux, Weathering a Storm for Brighter Days”.
Nao’s sophomore album Saturn (released October of 2018) proved to be prosperous as an international tour would follow only a few months after its release. Her sound clearly expanding from her 2016 debut while still carrying the distinctive vocals and singing ability she possesses.
Both artists have also shown their influence goes beyond their music - each reaching into other areas of the creative landscape. Nao launched herself through her own record label back in 2014 with her debut project So Good EP, while Deaux has played the role of director for other artists/friends: one of her most recent projects being fellow Chicago singer/songwriter KAINA’s Green Video.
Metro doors open to an all ages crowd this Friday, August 23rd at 6:00PM. You can purchase tickets online here.
