Closed Sessions Grows Stronger with WebsterX Distribution Deal
Independent Chicago record label Closed Session announced Monday that they have officially signed Milwaukee rapper WebsterX to an exclusive distribution deal. The deal is another step forward for the growing imprint, who's mission since day one has been "to be an incubator of talent that helps artists perfect their sound, gain experience, and learn the ins and outs of the music business so they prepared for a long lasting music career." WebsterX has proven to be a hot commodity in the Midwest since rising to the top of the Milwaukee hip-hop scene with a series of award-winning cinematic music videos, explosive live show and heavy touring. He's been riding the success of a handful of singles and collaborations released since 2015 and 3-song EP released earlier in 2016 titled KidX (featuring all Radiohead samples), so perhaps the announcement comes ahead of an impending debut on the label?
WebsterX will join rappers Kweku Collins, Kipp Stone, singer Jamila Woods and producers Odd Couple and Boathouse in the Closed Sessions family. Having already collaborated closely with the label for quite some time, appearing on tracks with Odd Couple, Boathouse and Collins, Web should find himself right at home at Soundscape Studios. This marks the second deal Closed Sessions has signed with a an artist outside of Chicago, Stone was the first last year, hailing from Cleveland, Ohio. The label has proven an inclination to expand and has had a flagship year thus far with several talented releases and strategic partnerships with the likes of Virgin Hotels, Boiler Room, Topman and more. We're excited to see how Webster continues to grow under the CS banner, more new to come soon for sure.
To celebrate the signing, WebsterX announces he's also working on his debut album via the Instagram post below. "Blue Streak" a new single, is a first taste of what we can expect.
