Chicago Based Web Series 'You're So Talented' Premieres Season 2
'You're So Talented' is a Chicago-based fictional web series that follows the life of Bea, a 25-year old out of work artist 'navigating her 20s and all it's inevitable dramas' has premiered the first episode of it's second season. The series was produced with a grant from the Chicago Digital Media Production fund, which is a project from the Voqal Fund. The fund is "is dedicated to supporting the dissemination of alternative ideas and building a more engaged public to effect progressive social change and disrupt the status quo." The series is supported and hosted by OpenTV, a platform for "empowering queer, trans and cis-women artists of color to produce and distribute indie series for artists by artists." The series premiered on February 4th, 2016 with a screening at The Whistler.
The web series is a creative collection of Chicago-based artists, creatives and filmmakers. The main cast features Sam Bailey as the main character Bea, alongside Ashleigh Lathrop, Gabe Franken, LaNisa Frederick and Jessica Kadish. The series was also created, written and directed by Bailey. The series is executive produced by Bailey and her creative partner Sam Lee (they work as a creative duo under the name (Our Names Are Sam). Lee also served as Production Manager. Associate production comes from Mateo Gonzales and Under The Spell Productions. The series was edited by local filmaker Ashley Thompson. Art Direction comes from The Good Night Ladies, a 'collective committed to empowering female artists by producing outstanding works by women in a variety of media.' The collective was formed by creative and local singer/songwriter Jessica Marks and actor, model, stylist Eve Rydberg. Wardrobe Syling comes from Vincent Martell. Sound mixing and audio design was done by Derek O'Rourke. Original music was composed for the series by Sam Lee and Alistair Slaughter under the name Whatever Spectrum.
Season 1 of 'You're So Talented' was a Tribeca New Online Work Honoree (2015) and was nominated for 'Breakthrough Serial, Short Form' at the Gotham International Film Festival (2015). The entire first season can be streamed at WeAreOpen.TV/Open-TV-Originals/Youre-So-Talented.
