Lollapalooza 2016 to Headline Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, LCD Soundsystem & More
Lollapalooza’s headliners have been heard through the grapevine, via Consequence of Sound. For what's sure to be a high octane 25 year anniversary, we’re looking at a somewhat expected lineup of mega-acts from 10-20 years ago, as well as a couple contemporary ones to throw on top. That being said, it's pretty damn good. As of now, we're looking at Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers and LCD Soundsystem for 3 nights' premier billings, along with Lana Del Rey and J. Cole. Adding to that, it's the first time Lolla will be expanding its schedule from 3 to 4 days of festival madness..
As for the rest of Lollapalooza, no word on the full lineup yet, but let's hope for a list that is further representative of Chicago music and the the music world in general than in past years; more rap. It's replaced rock as the dominant genre and completely commands the airwaves (not even close, really), so what gives? The festival has found more and more room for DJ's in the past few years, so hopefully they continue that trend with a genre that's selling, growing, impressing and influencing in mainstream America more than ever. Lolla will always be good for an excellent day or weekend, but increased variety can only improve.
