Update: Taking a small break from the madness that is Austin, TX during SXSW, we return with part two with ChiBrations March feature artist Loona Dae. Loona channeled Ms. Badu in her first offering, but this time all about Loona. Joined again by Sen Morimoto, Boyang Matsapola and Luke Titus, Loona performs a special live rendition of last year's "Black and White", one of Loona's most popular solo tracks to date. With talent like hers and a recent focus on her solo material, Loona is bound to bring us a lot more creativity and powerful vocals this year to add to her growing catalog. Often times the ChiBrations team puts me on to new artists just before I put you on, but not this month! Returning for March, ChiBrations features a favorite of ours, a singer/songwriter by the name of Loona Dae. After the recent disbanding of Highness, a five piece all female band from Chicago, Loona pursued new opportunities and dove head first back into her solo material.

Kicking off the year with new music, Loona debuted a solo track called "Bluebird" in January with production and guitar from former bandmate and still current collaborator Ora. Since that release, Loona's announced her debut solo EP Phases through a series of photographs and vague hints, but the uncertainties are no more! The upcoming project is scheduled to be released March 17th, and with it we'll get a good look and listen at the different phases of Loona as she embarks on her solo journey. 

Loona has plenty of new music on deck, but first Loona gets in touch with her inner Erykah Badu to cover the classic "20 Feet Tall" from 2010's New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh). It's no surprise to us that Ms. Badu has been an influence to Loona over the years, but Loona tells the ChiBrations team that when she first started singing "20 Feet Tall" she was going through some relationship woes. Loona says "The song resonated with me because the opening line is 'my love what did I do to make you fall so far from me'".

Joining Loona at Soap Box Studios for the performance are band mates Sen Morimoto on keys/vocals, Boyang Matsapola on bass and Luke Titus on drums. All do their part to bring this unique rendition to life, and Sen goes the extra mile chiming in with some added vocals that we definitely weren't expecting.
